So incase you have been under a rock, there is a little disagreement going on over the remarks that Dan Cathy said about same sex marriages.
“We’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. And I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about.”
Wow. Sounds judgmental. This led to Ed Helms (I know, WHO? The dentist from “The Hangover”) and NOH8 group supported by “Glee” actress Jane Lynch, Deepak Chopra, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and the Kardashian sisters (Because Lord knows we should all jump on the bandwagon being driven by Cyrus, Lohan and the Kardashians!)
On the flip side, did you know that Cathy also made THESE comments in January 2011? (From AJC.com)
“We’re not anti-anybody,” said Cathy. “Our mission is to create raving fans.”
“While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we love and respect anyone who disagrees.” Cathy said Chick-fil-A would not champion any political agendas on marriage and family.
“We’ve opted not to get involved in the political debate,” he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It’s never been our agenda.”
Going back to our recent comments, Chick-Fil-A posted the following on Facebook:
the company said its culture is to “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.” In addition, it said, “going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
Then there is this A-hole who took it upon himself to video his rant on an employee. A woman who had not said a single word to the press about her stance on Gay Marriage and is just trying to do her job is faced with this misguided jackhole. Check out the video:
The great part about the video is…. he posted it….and lost his job as CFO of Vante of Tucson! BWA HA HA! Here’s their statement:
Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.
The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.
We hope that the general population does not hold Mr. Smith’s actions against Vante and its employees.
So to recap, Dan Cathy doesn’t believe in Gay Marriage, Lohan and the Kardashians are drunk driving the ant-hate bandwagon and a mental midget lost his job for thinking he was cool. (By the way, did you LOVE the fact he mentioned “not a gay in me”?)
Now on to the company.
Chick-Fil-A had sales of over $4,000,000,000 last year. A portion of that is given to charities who happen to oppose gay marriage. Is that the intent of giving them the money? I don’t know. You can take the facts whatever direction you want to when the details are incomplete.
Back to Cathy talking to the Baptist Press:
“We don’t claim to be a Christian business,” Cathy told the Biblical Recorder in a recent visit to North Carolina. He attended a business leadership conference many years ago where he heard Christian businessman Fred Roach say, “There is no such thing as a Christian business.”
WOAH! Didn’t the Supreme Court just recently declare that Corporations were considered individuals (for the purpose of campaign contributions)? So with THAT mentality, one could argue that there COULD be such a thing as a Christian business. Argue that one! And then Cathy went on to say:
“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
MOVE OVER HOMOSEXUALS!!! What was that crack about first wives? Son of a….. I can’t believe he would take a shot at us divorced people like that! Paint me a sign! I’m going to write up a few chants to scream in front of one of their crappy establishments! I’m calling all my divorced friends! Oh, it is ON Mr. Cathy! Have I flown off the handle? Need a mirror?
Here’s the scoreboard, folks. Just breathe a second and check this out.
Just step away from the social media, my friends! Take a minute to breathe and think things through before posting something that could change your life.
Remember, the guy who lost his job also received a ton of hate e-mail, death threats, and his address was given out (he can’t go home and had kids with special needs). No matter how extreme you think you’re getting, someone WILL be on the other side ready to go the next level!
