Welcome Paul Kruger and Desmond Bryant. Rumor has it that James Harrison will be defecting from the Steelers and signing with the Browns.
On last year’s defense, there were only 2 players that logged in more than 5 sacks: DE Jabaal Sheard and DE Juqua Parker. (LB D’Qwell Jackson had 3.5)
Three players led the team with 3 INTs: FS Usama Young, CB Sheldon Brown and CB Joe Haden (LB D’Qwell Jackson had 2)
And 5 players had more than 50 Tackles: CB Buster Skrine, LB D’Qwell Jackson, LB Craig Robertson, CB Sheldon Brown and SS T. J. Ward. (Jackson was also the only player with a combined 100 (tackles and assists))
On the front line, I like Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin. I thought they did a fine job in the Tackle position, despite their stats don’t stand out. Let’s compare them with Bryant:
Not much of an improvement here. I’m not so sure the Browns made a good move here. Now let’s check out the LB situation
|L. J. Fort||16||1||1||1||10||0||10||3||0||0||0||0||0||8||5||0||2|
Once again, the “Big Fish” statistically doesn’t add up. Kruger’s stats don’t measure up to Maiava or Jackson. Harrison, on the other hand, seems to be a decent upgrade.
I’m luke warm on the moves so far. Still wish they would sign Dawson and Cribbs to keep the foundation alive.
Bring on day 2!
