Happy Birthday, Mom!

When I was a kid, my Mother always hated the fact that I would run around the neighborhood on her birthday and not only tell all my friends that it was her birthday, but also which one it was!
I didn’t know until I was older that Mom (and A LOT of other women) HATE people knowing their age. I can only imagine the butt whoopin she wanted to give me every time the doorbell rang that day and my friend is standing there yelling “HAPPY 29th BIRTHDAY, MRS. RYAN’S MOM!” (She’s been 29 since I can remember!)

Well, I’ve only learned half of that lesson, apparently. I won’t tell you how old she is today but I WILL say that today is her birthday!

Happy birthday, Mom! Many, many happy returns! I love you! ūüôā

Blogging- Be Careful!

Something people who don’t blog don’t get is the reflection on your family that your cyber words cast.

To a degree, any social media post could potentially cause problems in your “real” life. But that’s just 100 or so
characters that you may look like an idiot for a brief moment. Blogging gives you that rare opportunity to be an idiot in great detail.

I find a lot of things funny. A lot of things make me want to scream. Why don’t I just “let it rip” and get it out of my system? My family.

I don’t want a mindless rant about religion to affect how my wife and children are treated around town. Or make my parents wear bags over their heads like the unknown comic (go ahead and Google that, kids. I’ll wait.)

Sure, a well-worded blog about sexual experiences worthy of Penthouse Forum may gain me a HUGE view count for the day, but there’s that pesky problem of getting that phone call from my parents saying “What were you thinking?” (Not to mention the issues it could cause with the little lady!)

I have a tendency of speaking freely about virtually anything to people. As I become more comfortable expressing myself on here, I will have to become more aware of the fact that I’m not alone in front of my computer at 5am. This forum has given everybody, including me, a platform with the potential of being heard around the world. If you’re trying to keep part of yourself a secret, don’t post it on the Internet in anyway, shape or form!

I will do my best to not embarrass my wife, parents or children. As for upsetting anyone, I cannot control your reactions. As I said, A LOT of things get under my skin. Some of you will agree with me, others will want to reach through their screens and choke me.

In my mind, as long as you’re reacting, you care. And that is half the battle anymore!

Westboro Needs a Muzzle

And Westboro Baptist Church is at it again…

A prominent member of the Westboro Baptist Church is drawing a link between theOklahoma tornado’s devastation¬†and a local team’s support for openly gay NBA starJason Collins.

Fred Phelps Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps, tweeted the following:

OK Thunder’s Durant flips God by praising fag Collins. God smashes OK. You do the math.
Later, Phelps added:

God’s wonderful wrath in Oklahoma reminds me:

It isn’t the first time that an anti-gay pundit has attempted to blame a natural disaster to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In 2012, chaplain John McTernan¬†linked Hurricane Sandy¬†(and a number of other recent weather-related trends and natural disasters) on LGBT people and President Barack Obama’s backing of marriage equality.

“God is systematically destroying America,” McTernan wrote at the time. “Just look at what has happened this year.”

McTernan similarly¬†linked Hurricane Isaac¬†with the LGBT community, pointing to the fact that the life-threatening storm coincided with Southern Decadence, New Orleans’ “Gay Mardi Gras.”

“New Orleans is still hosting Southern Decadence with open homosexuality manifesting in the streets of the city,”¬†he wrote in a blog. “It could be that God is putting an end to this city and its wickedness.”

I don’t spend a lot of time wishing ill upon people. ¬†But, when a tornado wipes out Westboro’s church and these idiots who keep getting facetime in the media with their thoughtless rants are found lifeless, I hope there will be someone who tweets something along the lines of “Westboro flips God’s words, God silences them.”

The homosexual community has as much to do with the weather as us fat people are the cause of the economic collapse. ¬†This whole God using karma thing doesn’t work for me. ¬†He’s got the stroke to just pick off those who have crossed him one by one. ¬†He doesn’t need to (nor do I think he would he) wipe out an elementary school just to keep the homosexuals at bay.

There is a reason we have the phrase “The good die young.” ¬†Comedian Lewis Black adds “…and assholes live forever.” ¬†Perhaps he was referring to the Westboro community.
